Cultural Competency Corner - Fall 2001

Keystone Mercy has been working diligently to identify and respond to the needs of our members of Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and sensory impaired members, in order to facilitate their access to quality health care. The key to ensuring this equal access to benefits and services for LEP and sensory impaired members is communication. Communication, whether in writing or spoken, is the key to establishing the patient/provider relationship. Keystone Mercy reminds all participating providers that you have an obligation to provide interpreter services to LEP members and to make reasonable efforts to accommodate members with sensory impairments. Any practitioner with a question or concern regarding the provision of these services may call our Member Services Department at 800-521-6860.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the provision of services to members with Limited English Proficiency, call our Member Services Department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-521-6860.
