In recognition of their outstanding ambition, dedication and commitment to their communities, Keystone Mercy Health Plan (KMHP) will award a record 60 scholarships to select members at its annual Member Scholarship Banquet, which will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 5:30 p.m. in Mandeville Hall's Wolfington Teletorium on the campus of St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

The scholarships, worth $2,000 each, are awarded to members who are scheduled to attend an accredited college, university, trade or vocational school beginning in August 2012. Applicants were required to submit an essay explaining their need, how education will benefit them and the benefits they would gain from receiving the scholarship.

The scholarship recipients are from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

"Each year our associates make donations to fund scholarships that help our members and build healthy communities,” said Russell Gianforcaro, executive director of KMHP. “These promising men and women have demonstrated their determination to better themselves and we are proud to help them fulfill their dreams."

The employee-funded Member Scholarship program has awarded more than 800 such scholarships worth a total of $1.7 million to members since its founding in 1988.

KMHP's Mission Partnership Campaign celebrates the generosity of its associates. Originally created to fund these scholarships, it now allows associates to make donations to a number of charitable efforts. The campaign also funds an Associate Family Scholarship Program, which helps children of KMHP associates who are struggling with financing their college education and the Gifts of Mercy Program, which helps member families in need during the holiday season.
