Keystone Mercy Health Plan Associates Help the Children of the People’s Emergency Center Head Back to School

September 10, 2007
Philadelphia, PA – Keystone Mercy Health Plan associates recently donated school supplies and additional funds to the People’s Emergency Center (PEC) to help children living in the Rowan House transitional housing community equip themselves for success in the new school year.

Keystone Mercy Health Plan Associates Help the Children of the People’s Emergency Center Head Back to SchoolKeystone Mercy associates have held an annual PEC school supply donation campaign since 1999.  The donation efforts are part of Keystone Mercy’s mission to help build healthier communities and support their members’ needs beyond traditional healthcare services.  This year, associates donated book bags, paper/notebooks, pencils/pens, erasers, calculators, rulers, crayons/markers, and alarm clocks.  The donated items filled three large moving cartons, which were delivered to Rowan House to be distributed to the students and used throughout the year for school needs.  Additionally, checks from associates to PEC totaled over $1,900.

“We at Keystone Mercy are proud to be associated with the wonderful work of PEC,” said Sister Renee Yann, Senior Vice President of Mission and Values at Keystone Mercy Health Plan.  “Being able to support the children at PEC brings great joy to our associates, and we hope that our efforts help the children get off to a good start with this next year of their education.”
