Keystone Mercy Health Plan, State Representative James Roebuck, and the University of Pennsylvania Center for Community Partnerships host closing ceremony for Lea School Community Wellness Program

Philadelphia, PA - The Lea School is holding the final classes and closing ceremony for its Community Wellness Program on Thursday, June 14, 2007.  The program takes place at Lea School’s campus in University City, located at 4700 Locust Street in Philadelphia.  Classes will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the Closing Ceremony and awards presentation held from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Over the past four months, Lea School has hosted a two-hour wellness program every week for students, parents, and members of the surrounding community.  During the course of the program, attendees have participated in numerous health-related classes, including: karate, tennis, yoga, and healthy cooking classes.  The program is sponsored by Keystone Mercy Health Plan, and coordinated by the University of Pennsylvania Center for Community Partnerships, with additional support from State Representative James Roebuck.

After the final classes are held on June 14, 2007, the Community Wellness program will then conclude with a special closing ceremony for the program participants.  Activities will include: health screening programs provided by Keystone Mercy, a healthy cooking demonstration and dinner provided by the University of Pennsylvania Center for Community Partnerships, and the presentation of citations to students who have completed the program by Representative James R. Roebuck, Chairman of the PA House Education Committee.
