Keystone Mercy Health Plan Awards Scholarships to Members

Keystone Mercy Employees Have Contributed More Than $1.3 Million in Member Scholarships through the Years

May 24, 2007
Philadelphia, PA - Keystone Mercy Health Plan awarded 34 of its members with a $2,000 scholarship to help them further their education at the 19th Annual Member Scholarship Reception held last night at Keystone Mercy Health Plan.

This year’s reception featured guest speaker Lynette Brown-Sow, Vice President of Marketing and Government Relations for Community College of Philadelphia, and a musical performance of inspirational songs by the Keystone Mercy Choir.

Keystone Mercy Health Plan created the Member Scholarship Program in 1988 in an effort to extend support to its members beyond traditional health care services.  The Member Scholarship Program recognizes Keystone Mercy members who have committed themselves to continuing their education beyond high school.  The program is unique in that it is driven and funded by donations from Keystone Mercy employees.  Since its inception, the Scholarship Program has awarded over $1.3 million to more than 600 members.

“The Member Scholarship Program is part of Keystone Mercy’s rich tradition of going above and beyond our member’s health needs.  As part of our mission to care for our members' physical needs, we also care for the whole person - body, mind, and spirit,” said Anne Morrissey, President of Pennsylvania Managed Care at Keystone Mercy.  “We are very proud to help our members reach their goals of higher education.”
