Philadelphia, PA - Keystone Mercy Health Plan announced today it has signed a new long-term hospital and physician contract with the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) for the provision of health care services.

Through this new collaborative business relationship with UPHS, Keystone Mercy members will continue to have access to UPHS’s three hospitals in the Philadelphia area; The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and Pennsylvania Hospital. In addition, this new agreement includes the Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania, Clinical Care Associates of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Care at Home, Wissahickon Hospice, and Penn Home Infusion.

"We consider the University of Pennsylvania Health System to be a valued provider in our network, and we are pleased to reach an agreement," said Anne Morrissey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Keystone Mercy Health Plan. "This agreement was achieved through hard work and collaboration between our health plan and the health system.”

“This new business relationship between our two organizations paves the way for more innovative solutions regarding effective care delivery,” commented Bill Morsell, Senior Vice President, Provider Network Management. “It really sets a new standard for working together with our providers.”

“This is more than just a new business relationship between a health plan and a health system. The physicians, hospitals, and ancillary providers of The University of Pennsylvania Health System and Keystone Mercy Health Plan have agreed on strategies to both recognize high quality care and improve the efficiency of health services provided to Keystone Mercy members,” said Michael J. Dandorph, UPHS' Senior Vice President for Business Development.

The University of Pennsylvania Health System includes three hospitals, all of which have received numerous national patient-care honors (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania; Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation's first hospital; and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center); a faculty practice plan; a primary-care provider network; two multi-specialty satellite facilities and a home care and hospice.
