Nearly $1.3 Million Given to Keystone Mercy Health Plan Members in Scholarships

June 28, 2006
Philadelphia, PA – Keystone Mercy Health Plan will hold its 18th annual Member Scholarship reception on Thursday, June 29, 2006 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Keystone Mercy Campus, located at 100 Stevens Drive in Philadelphia, where 31 members will each receive $2000 towards furthering their education.

The reception, one of Keystone Mercy’s signature events, will feature guest speaker Sandra Dungee Glenn, President of the American Cities Foundation and Commissioner of School Reform for the School District of Philadelphia, and musical performances by the Keystone Mercy Health Plan Choir.

“The Member Scholarship Program has been part of Keystone Mercy’s rich tradition of going above and beyond our member’s health needs. As part of our mission to care for our members' physical needs, we also care for the whole person - body, mind and spirit,” said Anne Morrissey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Pennsylvania Managed Care at Keystone Mercy. “We are very proud to help our members reach their goals through higher education.”

This years recipients are Keystone Mercy members from Philadelphia County, Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County and Montgomery County.

The Member Scholarship program is made possible through generous financial donations from Keystone Mercy associates, who have awarded over 600 scholarships totaling nearly $1.3 million since the program’s inception in 1988.

Keystone Mercy employees raise money each year during the annual Mission Partnership Campaign. The spirited and energetic campaign raises money from Keystone Mercy events, such as the Member Scholarship Program, Gifts of Mercy and Associates’ Family Scholarship Program. Money is also donated to the affiliated agencies of the United Way.
