Castillo Honored by the Philadelphia Business JournalKeystone Mercy Employee Receives 40 Under 40 AwardMay 2, 2006 In her six years with the Company, Castillo has dedicated her work to developing and implementing marketing campaigns and outreach health programs to increase membership and market share and to foster ties with local communities, healthcare providers while enhancing the quality of life of more than 275,000 members in Southeast HealthChoices service area. She leads the Keystone Mercy's faith-based signature wellness program, The Health Ministry Program for Women, which seeks to increase health awareness and improve the quality of life for women of color throughout the Delaware Valley region. "Flora demonstrates strong, dynamic leadership that inspires and motivates her associates and peers to volunteer in community health programs that enhance the quality of life for Keystone Mercy members," said Maria Pajil Battle, Senior Vice President, Public Affairs and Marketing, Keystone Mercy. "Through her tireless involvement with Keystone Mercy and volunteering in the Philadelphia and New Jersey communities, Flora has dedicated her career to civic involvement." Castillo serves on the North Philadelphia Health System's Latino Advisory Board, Congreso's Women Wellness Center Advisory Board, Hispanic Alliance of Atlantic County Board (HAAC) and the First Tee Golf Program Board, and the Medicaid Health Plans of America's Marketing and Government Affairs Committees. She also is a member of the Delaware Region Consortium for Latino Health and the New Jersey TRANSIT Board of Directors, making her the first Latina and the youngest member to serve on the board. The winners of the 16th Annual 40 Under 40 Awards Program were nominated by co-workers, friends, or self-nominated and are proven performers in their industries and in the community. Each winner is 39 years old or younger, works in Greater Philadelphia area, and is a first-time winner. "The Forty Under 40 program gives us an opportunity to put a spotlight on some of the young and increasingly influential leaders in our region," said Bernard Dagenais, editor of the Philadelphia Business Journal. "These individuals have established themselves as leaders through their professional and volunteer achievements. They have made a difference and can be expected to continue to do so in the years to come." The editors grade nominees on business success, community activities, regional impact and leadership ability.
