Help the Women You Love Prevent Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer among women in this country. Each year, more than 240,000 American women learn they have breast cancer. Encourage the women you love to get a mammogram.

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast that can help find changes or signs of a problem. A mammogram can help find breast cancer early.

Breast cancer is most treatable when it is found early. Mammograms are covered by Keystone Mercy. You do not need approval from Keystone Mercy to have one.

Who Should Have a Mammogram?

All women should have their first mammogram at age 40. Then have 1 every year even if you don’t have signs of cancer.(Consistent with the recommendation of the American Cancer Society guidelines).

Women younger than 40 who have a family history of breast cancer should talk with their doctor about when to have their first mammogram. Your regular doctor or OB/GYN (women’s) doctor can write a prescription for you to have a mammogram.

To learn more about breast cancer, go to the American Cancer Society web site.

If you need help finding a Keystone Mercy doctor or making an appointment, please call Member Services at 1-800-521-6860. You can also go to Keystone Mercy’s provider directory to find a doctor.
