In Honor and Memory of Jim Boyle

Friend of Keystone Mercy Health Plan and the Healthy HoopsSM Program

The Keystone Mercy Health Plan family lost a close friend and community advocate with the passing of Jim "Bo" BoyleThe Keystone Mercy Health Plan family lost a close friend and community advocate with the passing of Jim "Bo" Boyle, former St. Joseph University men's head basketball coach and player. Jim, 63, passed away on December 23, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Tess, and the entire Boyle family.

Jim was an original member of the Healthy Hoops Coalition and played an integral role in the development of Healthy Hoops, a program that uses the sport of basketball to educate asthmatic children and their parents about asthma, and how to manage the disease through appropriate medication usage, proper nutrition and monitored exercise and recreational activities.

Jim's knowledge and love of the game, along with his compassion for children, shone through at each of the Healthy Hoops programs. Keystone Mercy President and CEO Daniel J. Hilferty, a personal friend, said, "Jim was a great teacher who touched the lives of hundreds of children with asthma, as well as their parents and guardians. Jim truly made a difference in the lives of our members. His memory will remain in our hearts."

His warmth and passion will be greatly missed and never forgotten. We are forever grateful for his contributions.

As a special tribute to Jim Boyle, the Healthy Hoops program will be named in Jim's honor.
