The AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies

As President and Chief Executive Officer of the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies, Daniel J. Hilferty is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, business development and operations of the Companies, including sister organization Keystone Mercy Health Plan. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies is the largest organization of Medicaid managed care plans in the United States, touching the lives of more than 6.5 million individuals. With more than 20 years of experience exclusively serving the Medicaid population, AmeriHealth Mercy's core products include full-risk HMOs, management, administrative, pharmacy benefit, and care management services, and behavioral health care services.

Mr. Hilferty has more than 25 years of experience in health care, government affairs, communications and education. He was previously Senior Vice President of Corporate and Government Affairs for Mercy Health System in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Prior to his tenure at Mercy Health System, Mr. Hilferty was the Executive Director of PennPorts with the Office of Pennsylvania Governor Robert P. Casey. He managed all economic development programs and legislative relations related to the ports of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Erie. In 1994, Mr. Hilferty ran for the position of Lieutenant Governor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hilferty is currently Chairman of the Board of the Medicaid Health Plans of America, the premier industry advocacy group for businesses serving the Medicaid population. He also serves on the Medicaid Committee of America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). Mr. Hilferty also serves on the Boards of Saint Joseph's University, the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition, J.J. White & Company, Drexel Neumann Academy and the Irish Educational Development Foundation.

Mr. Hilferty's long standing commitment to the communities that the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies serves is evidenced by his work with the Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics, and his service as the Chairman of the Sultan Jihad Ahmad Community Foundation's Fundraising initiatives and Chair of the Drexel Neumann Academy Development Committee.

Mr. Hilferty received a Master's degree in Public Administration from American University in Washington, DC, where he earned a Graduate Teaching Assistantship in Statistical Analysis, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. He resides in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Joan, and their children Coeli, Maris, Daniel, John and Matthew.
